INVITATION

Yozo Miyake,XXXXI ISCEV President

Dear ISCEV friends,

The 41st ISCEV Meeting will be held from April 1 to April 5, 2003 in Nagoya, Japan and the organizing committee is currently dedicating all our efforts in coordinating the meeting. Looking back it was exactly 10 years ago in 1993 when Japan had the honor in the past to organize the ISCEV meeting at Furusato village in Chiba, which was directed by Prof. Adachi. In deciding the dates for the 41st meeting we reviewed the past 10 years' record to discover that the cherry blossoms have always been in full bloom during the first week of April and this is the reason why we have chosen these dates for 2003. Cherry blossoms, however, do not last long and it is the strongest wish of the organizing committee that our meeting will be blessed with good weather and the cherry blossoms in full bloom. As for the venue of the meeting, we have chosen the Noh theater located next to the Nagoya Castle, an area famous for cherry blossom trees. The traditional theater has been modified for the scientific meeting. During our stay, we will of course have an opportunity to enjoy Noh, which is a famous traditional Japanese art.
The main topics of the meeting are: 1. Multifocal Responses from the Visual Pathways, and 2. Night-blinding Disorders: Animal Models and Clinical Investigation.
On behalf of the organizing committee, I extend my warmest welcome to all of you to come and enjoy the most beautiful season in Japan and a very productive meeting.

Yozo Miyake, M.D.
